Why take a boat instead of a car?

The coastal road between Kotor and Perast follows every curve of the bay and runs through several medieval town centres with one-lane bottlenecks. On a quiet winter day it takes about 25 minutes by car. On a typical summer afternoon — between cruise-ship traffic, tour buses, and parked cars — it regularly takes 60 to 90 minutes.

A private boat cuts straight across the sheltered inner bay in 20 minutes. There are no traffic lights, no tour buses ahead of you, no struggle to find parking in Perast. You step off the boat at the central waterfront, a 30-second walk from anywhere in the old town. And the view from the water — the bay opening up, the baroque palaces of Perast catching the light — is one of the experiences travellers remember long after they get home.

How it works

  1. 1

    Message us on WhatsApp

Tell us your pickup time, how many guests, and where you are staying in the bay. We reply within a few minutes during operating hours (08:00–20:00).

  2. 2

    Confirm price and pickup dock

We quote a flat per-boat price (not per person) and confirm the nearest safe dock to your accommodation. No deposit required.

  3. 3

    Meet your captain

Your captain waits at the agreed dock. Modern Atlantic Marine 670 Open speedboat (2024) — comfortable cushioned seating, sun cover, Yamaha 150 HP engine, life jackets for all guests including child sizes.

  4. 4

    20-minute scenic ride

Cruise through the sheltered inner bay past Prčanj and Stoliv. Calm water, dramatic mountain views, and the Perast skyline coming into focus.

  5. 5

    Step off in central Perast

We dock right at the Perast waterfront, in front of the museum or the central church. From there, the entire old town is a few minutes' walk. Pay your captain in cash, agree a return time if you want one — done.

Pricing

Price is on request and charged per boat — not per person. The quote depends on time of day (early morning, midday, sunset) and group size, but is the same whether you are 2 guests or 6.

Payment is cash to the captain after the transfer. No advance deposit, no cancellation fee — if the weather turns or your plans change, you simply do not pay.

Other boat taxi routes we run

Kotor ↔ Perast is our most popular line, but we run private transfers across the entire Bay of Kotor. All routes work both ways.

Tivat Airport → Kotor

Skip the 45-min drive after landing — meet your captain at Porto Montenegro and arrive at your Kotor dock in 20 minutes.

Tivat Airport → Perast

The fastest way to reach Perast after a flight. About 25 minutes by speedboat versus 1 hour by road in summer.

Kotor → Žanjic Beach

Direct transfer to one of the Adriatic's most beautiful pebble beaches. Around 35 minutes by water.

Tivat → Perast

Short cross-bay transfer, roughly 15 minutes. Great for guests staying in Tivat who want a Perast day out.

Herceg Novi → Kotor

The road takes 60–90 minutes in summer. The boat takes 25. Same destination, completely different start to the day.

Need a route that is not listed here? Just ask — we cover any dock in Bay of Kotor.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the Kotor to Perast boat ride take?

About 20 minutes door-to-door. The route stays inside the sheltered inner bay, so the water is calm and the ride is smooth even on breezier days.

Where do you pick up in Kotor and drop off in Perast?

Pickup is at the nearest safe dock or marina to your accommodation — Kotor old town, Prčanj, Dobrota, or Muo. Drop-off in Perast is right at the central waterfront, in front of the museum or the main church — a 1-minute walk to anywhere in the old town.

How much does a private boat taxi from Kotor to Perast cost?

Price is on request because it depends on the time of day and group size. It is charged per boat, not per person — so the cost is the same whether you are 2 or 6 guests. Message us on WhatsApp with your timing and we will quote you within a few minutes.

How far in advance do I need to book?

As early as possible — in peak summer (July, August) we recommend at least 24 hours. Outside peak season, same-day bookings are often possible if you message early in the day.

Can you carry luggage?

Yes. Standard suitcases and travel bags are fine. If you have unusually large or fragile cargo (e.g. surfboards, bicycles), let us know in advance so we can plan the right boat.

What happens if the weather is bad?

The captain has the final call. If conditions are unsafe, we reschedule at no charge. Light rain is usually fine — we keep to the sheltered inner-bay route. Because you do not pay anything in advance, there is no cancellation fee if you decide not to go.

How do I pay?

Cash on the day, paid to the captain after the transfer. No advance deposit required.

Want to see more than just Perast?

If you have a couple of hours to spare, our Perast & Our Lady of the Rocks tour adds a stop at the famous island church and an hour in Perast itself — same dock, same boat, only €150 per boat for up to 6 guests.
